The Province of Ontario has updated regulations that require many companies who have staff working in the bush to follow similar guidelines to what the Forest Industry currently adheres to. Ontario Regulations under the FFPA (Forest Fire Prevention Act) requires SP105/106 training for mining / railway / pipelines / hydro companies.
The SP105 training package was developed for companies that do not have a legislated requirement for an equipment cache as outlined in the Industrial Operations portion of Ontario Regulation 207 I 96 (Outdoor Fires).
This training package covers topics such as basic fire suppression, fire behavior and aircraft operations to name a few. It is intended to provide the training required to keep employees safe in the fire environment they may encounter. This course was developed so that it could be delivered in one day and includes a small field component.
The SP106 training package was developed for companies that have a legislated requirement for an equipment cache as outlined in the Industrial Operations portion of Ontario Regulation 207 I 96 (Outdoor Fires).
This program includes all aspects of the training provided in the SP105 program with addition training specific to the use of fire pumps and hose that is required in an equipment cache. This course was developed so that it can be completed in two days and includes a larger field component during the pump and hose handling portion of the course on day two.
