Fighting wildfires can be demanding and dangerous. The job is not for everyone. However, it is also challenging, thrilling and undeniably satisfying. With decades of wild fire fighting experience, FIRE 1’s instructors use their passion and expertise to provide the highest quality training experience. What you learn will have a direct impact on your life and those around you. We will train you to do it safely!
FIRE 1 is holding the SP100 Forest Fire Fighting Training for individuals at pre-designated locations across Ontario this spring and throughout the summer months. This 40-hour course will prepare you to assume the role of an Ontario entry level forest fire crew member.
New Ontario Regulations under the Forest Fire Prevention Act requires SP105/106 training. Province of Ontario has updated the regulations under the FFPA so that other industries (mining /railway/ pipelines /hydro) have to follow similar guidelines to what forest industry currently follows in Ontario.
FIRE 1 is an approved FireRanger WFX FIT testing agency. Type 1 Wildland Fire Fighters must be physically fit in order to fight wildland fires safely and effectively, as well as to avoid injuries and recover quickly. In particular, they must have suitable levels of aerobic fitness, muscular strength and endurance.
To FIRE 1, customer service means providing assistance in a friendly, honest and proficient manner. From your first point of contact, you can expect accurate responses, as we ensure that all staff possess a thorough knowledge of the services we offer.
However, we further pledge that if your first point of contact is unable to assist you, you will be referred to someone else within FIRE 1 who can.
When your query is made by email, the appropriate staff member will respond in a timely fashion. A timely fashion means within a 24 hour period. If it is received by phone, a timely fashion means within the same workday. If FIRE 1 cannot meet your request, the reasons will be explained to you in a kind and professional manner with the appropriate referral if necessary.
